# Does your product title break Google's rules?

> Free Google Shopping title checker: length, promotional words, ALL CAPS, size lists and brand, tested against Merchant Center's rules. Optionally get an AI rewrite that passes the same checks.

Free title checker by catalogaudit: https://catalogaudit.app/title-checker (no signup, nothing stored beyond a salted IP hash used for daily limits).

## What it checks

- Checks title length against Merchant Center's 150-character limit and the 70 characters shoppers see
- Finds promotional words such as free shipping, sale and % off
- Finds ALL-CAPS words, lists of sizes, symbols and repeated keywords
- Checks that the brand is in the title, ideally first
- Optional AI rewrite that must pass the same checks before it is shown

## Questions

### How long should a Google Shopping product title be?

Up to 150 characters, but only the first 70 or so are reliably shown, so put the brand, product type and the attributes shoppers search for (color, size, material, model) at the start. Titles under 25 characters are too thin to tell Google or an AI agent what the product is.

### What counts as promotional text in a product title?

Anything about price or offers: “free shipping”, “sale”, “50% off”, “best price”, “buy now”, “limited time”, exclamation marks. Google's editorial rules disallow it in titles. Offers belong in the sale price field and Merchant Center promotions. ALL-CAPS words are treated the same way, except brand names.

### Is the AI rewrite safe to paste into my store?

It only rearranges the facts in your title and the details you give it, and we run the same checks on the result and show it only if it passes. Still read it: the checks can't know whether a fact is true, so make sure it describes your product.
